VV-D series

GIEBEL adsorbers of VV-D series are cost-effective solutions without valves. The adsorbers are filled with 0.1 to 4.6 kg of silica gel and thus have a water absorption capacity of up to 1.84 l. Thanks to a 3μm filter, the aspirated air is additionally purified. An activated carbon layer adsorbs oil mist and protects the desiccant and the environment from contamination.

After saturation, the adsorber is replaced, which minimizes the maintenance effort. Especially for plants with a permanent air exchange and only short maintenance periods, the use of the disposable version makes sense. When using an adsorber without valves, the pressure build-up is minimal – recommended for use on IBCs.

The sucked air flows into the adsorber almost without pressure. After flowing into the adsorber, the air is distributed evenly over the cross-section. The pre-filter disc already frees the air from coarse dirt particles at this point.

When the desiccant silica gel flows through, the water molecules are reliably removed from the air. The gap volume of the granulate is optimally selected with 2 to 5 mm grains and guarantees a minimum pressure build-up with simultaneous very good drying efficiency. At the beginning of the drying process, a residual air humidity of max. 2 % rH and a dew point of -40 °C are achieved. Due to the water absorption, the silica gel changes color from orange to green in the standard. A complete green coloration indicates the end of the product life cycle.

The 3 µm filter ensures that all dirt particles are separated from the ambient air and the silica gel and that the connected plant is not contaminated.

In the case of outflowing air, the two-stage slosh protection prevents larger oil droplets from entering the desiccant. The activated carbon also adsorbs the finest oil particles and thus enables the adsorber to regenerate itself.

Adsorbers of the VV-D series are made of polycarbonate, polyamide, silica gel orange-green, FKM and can be used for the aeration of all common hydraulic and gear oils as well as lubricants, fuels and isocyanates.

Pressure ratio


There is currently no spare part kit for the VV-D series available. Here, the complete adsorber is replaced after complete saturation.
